San Francisco Sonnet

I left my heart in sweet San Francisco
Macy’s seventh floor, vegan pasta shared
Dinner, Cheesecake Factory patio
Table ninety feet above Union Square

We swore our love in the Golden City
Atop the 16th Avenue Tiled Steps
Mosaics, ocean sunset views, pretty
Held my hand, then, back to his bed you crept

Paris of the West, Painted Ladies nest
Checked in as your girlfriend at the hotel
Gave him your best, showed me off to the rest
He your main monsieur, me your mademoiselle

No more Giants games for us by the bay,
Unconcealed, truth revealed, you love Andre.

A real plot twist in this Shakespearean sonnet! You know. This could actually be made into a blues song. It’s got a superb rhythm to it.
