“You must be drawn to bad men;
Nice guys always finish last.”
As if not falling for you
Was a personal attack.
Nice Guy, let me get this straight
You think the only reason
Anyone could dislike you
Is because you’re too perfect?
Haven’t you ever heard of
Incompatibility
Did it occur to you that
Maybe we’re too different?
What if I don’t like your scent,
Political views, diet,
Fashion sense (or lack thereof),
Or ain’t attracted to you?
What if I like men my age
Don’t you think I have the right?
Educated, liberal
Who eat right and exercise?
What if I’m human like you
With more complex ways to choose
A partner than whether or
Not I’ll be abused by him?
Nice Guy, it’s not me, it’s you.
Do you honestly believe
That because you like yourself
You deserve me as a prize?
“Nice guys finish last,” you say,
As you dehumanize me.
You’re not as nice as you think.
I don’t owe you anything.
Love self-glossed “nice guys!”🥱

Brilliant poem. I don’t think there are any nice guys in this world, and the people who call themselves that and berate you are only showing their true colours. They’re jealous and insecure. Having said that, despite the flaws, there are people who vibe with you, and I think everyone needs to find their tribe.

Exactly– we all have strengths and weaknesses, and it’s about finding someone compatible. No one is perfect, but the guys who refer to themselves as “nice guys” often seem to lack self-awareness.
