Standing Prayer

On my knees
Praying perfectly
Head bowed like
They taught me
If I get the motions right
I’ll be safe next time

On the ground
Guess God likes me down
Typical
Don’t they all
I’m only lovable with
Lowered self-esteem

I can’t breathe
With my voice silenced
Oppression
Boils my blood
I can’t let life pass me by
Without speaking up

New prayer
Inherent knowledge
Listen up
Tune them out
They’ve monopolized God’s truth
Look into myself

On my knees
Gaze glued to the ground
Humble eyes
Not a threat
They’d take me down if they knew
I feel confident

Who are they
To define God’s rules
Anyway
We’re the same
God gave me intuition
Not to be ignored

On my feet
Risen from ashes
I take back
My power
This is my territory
I’m safe on my own

    1. I’m glad you could relate to it. ❤ This one was loosely based on some of my real feelings… as usual 😉
